The THE BOOK AFFAIR is a contemporary book and ideas festival, designed to move away from the serious and often expected image of a traditional book exhibition. The identity approaches the book not as a static object, but as a starting point for discussion, creation and the exchange of new ideas.

The name presents the relationship with books as a personal “affair”, while the phrase “Festival of Books & Ideas” expands the content beyond literature. The same logic is carried through to the design, which is bold, contemporary and full of movement.

The central element of the identity is the geometric symbol of the logo. The repeated angles resemble open pages, successive books, as well as arrows pointing in the same direction. Its simple and compact form makes it instantly recognizable, while allowing it to work from a very small size to a key element within an entire composition.

The style is based on large geometric forms, bold color blocks, asymmetrical layouts and typography that changes in size, position and direction. The photographs are not placed in the usual way, but are cropped, layered or connected with the shapes of the logo. This creates a contemporary editorial result with intensity, rhythm and a different visual outcome in every composition. Red, blue, light green and lilac create a strong yet balanced palette. Their combination makes the identity feel fresher and more approachable, without becoming childish or overly casual. At the same time, it allows the content to be organized into different categories while always maintaining the same visual language.

Although the compositions vary significantly from one another, the logo, geometric shapes, typography and colors create a consistent shared visual code. This gives the festival the freedom to present different speakers, activities and themes without the communication becoming repetitive or disconnected. The result is a flexible and highly recognizable identity that makes THE BOOK AFFAIR feel more like a contemporary cultural event than a conventional book exhibition.
